Boundaries & Responsibilities
Kids test limits and express discontent when they don’t get what they want…that’s nature. Despite their objections, kids absolutely want and need boundaries. It is through these boundaries that parents guide a child’s development and his eventual transition into adulthood. When clarity and consistency are absent, messages get mixed and vital lessons get lost in confusion.
On the next page, please describe the boundaries you intend to address in your personalized Family Constitution. If you haven’t already done so, please read the book Your Family Constitution and complete the exercises that will help you identify and prioritize key issues to address with structure.
Start simple and include only the most pressing issues that cause recurring arguments or tension in your household, as you may find it difficult to manage and abide by too many new rules at once. Remeber, you can always adjust or add to your boundaries later.
IF YOU LEAVE THIS APPLICATION BEFORE COMPLETING IT, YOUR WORK WILL NOT BE SAVED. WE RECOMMEND PRINTING OUT THIS WORKSHEET AND COMPLETING IT WITH YOUR FAMILY BEFORE YOU ENTER IT HERE.
